The main purposes of the prefitting examination are to:
1. Determine ocular health and
suitability of contact lens wear
2. Obtain baseline data for future
reference
3. Obtain data to determine best
contact lens type, parameters of
the first diagnostic lens, and to be
able to order correct lens power
4. Consult with the patient as to the
suitability, risks, limitations and
expectations of contact lens wear
(This module assumes the student understands general examination procedures and, thus, most procedures are not described in detail. Other modules or texts on refraction procedures should be consulted if any of the procedures are not understood).
